Mayura was born from a love of both yoga and the land — a belief that the most honest mat is one the earth herself could make.

Mayura Yoga mats are made from the finest rubber sourced from the lush plantations of Sri Lanka (Ceylon). One of the leading Natural Rubber producers in the world, Sri Lanka was the cradle for the rubber industry, that revolutionized many industries across the globe. Renowned for the production of high quality natural rubber products, Sri Lanka is home to the quality natural rubber type known as “Lankaprene” which is odour free to a certain extent, light coloured, and clean which is ideally suited for yoga mat production.
By identifying the potential of using this high quality natural rubber in yoga mat manufacturing, Mayura yoga started developing their first yoga mats in 2015 in collaboration with the polymer science department of the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka. After five years of painstaking R&D work , we were able to introduce the best non toxic natural rubber yoga mat in to the market in 2020 which is praised by many yogis around the world.
The mayura yoga is still keeps evolving, introducing new products and celebrating the goodness of Ceylon Rubber.

Nimal produces the first prototype Mayura mat on his family's plantation in Kalutara. Eighteen months of trials, one perfect mat.
Mayura launches at two Colombo yoga studios. Waitlists form within the first week — word spreads purely by practice.
Orders arrive from Germany, Australia and the US. Mayura begins shipping internationally, reaching 12 countries within the year.
Mayura achieves full biodegradable certification and launches the mat return programme — every old mat is composted, not landfilled.
Mayura reaches a global community of 5,000+ customers and partners with Daraz, Kapruka and leading fitness retailers across Sri Lanka.
Two new premium lines launch — the Forest Pro for serious practitioners and the Tropics Edition for those who want beauty and performance in one.
